A right-sized buffer for mid-flow machinesFor a machine in the 4–6 GPM range, 55 gallons is a comfortable working buffer — enough for a stretch of washing without a hard water source, and light enough to mount on a smaller rig. Match it to the machine's flow so the inlet can refill it on the move.
The size that fits a pickup bed beside the rest of the rigAt 55 gallons it tucks in beside the machine, reel and chemical on a standard pickup, keeping the weight balanced and the bed usable. It is the most common first buffer tank for a contractor who is ready to stop hauling to a spigot.
Plumbing is the part that needs doing rightA supply tank is only as good as its inlet, vent and drain. We carry the ball valves and fittings to plumb it cleanly, and the 3/4" tank suction hose to run from it to the pump.
It depends on the machine's flow and whether you can refill. As a buffer tank it keeps a 4–6 GPM machine working between refills from a spigot, pond or trailer. It is not a standalone water supply for a long day with no source — the tank guide helps you size for the job.
Can I mount the 55 beside my machine?
Yes — that is the usual layout on a pick-up rig: tank beside the machine, plumbed through a ball valve to the pump inlet with a 3/4" suction hose. Keep the tank vent open or the pump will starve as the tank draws down.
